Trends of reductions of rare fish species were studied for some reservoirs and the reasons for these changes were considered. The ways to improving the system of fish protection of these categories as on the legislative level, and at the level of the enhancing environmental protection by regulatory organizations were proposed. Робота присвячена аналізу тих видів риб Молочного та Утлюцького лиманів, Східного Сиваша, північно-західної частини Азовського моря, які мають охоронний статус згідно національних та міжнародних червоних списків, а також Угод, що ратифіковані Україною. Для окремих водойм досліджені тенденції щодо зменшення чисельності рідкісних видів риб та розглядаються причини таких змін. Пропонуються шляхи покращення системи охорони риб даних категорій як на законодавчому рівні, так і на рівні посилення природоохоронної діяльності контролюючих організацій.
