This species is widespread in the bays of Sevastopol. The larval development of H. dianthus studied, the duration of the pelagic stage - about 2 weeks, the type of larval feeding - planktotrophic. Біля берегів південно-східного Криму в обростанні твердих субстратів і двостулкових молюсків виявлено новий для Чорного моря і фауни України вид багатощетинкових червів родини Serpulidae – Hydroides dianthus (Verril, 1873). Цей вид широко розповсюдився в бухтах Севастополя. Вивчено личинковий розвиток H. dianthus, тривалість пелагічної стадії - близько 2 тижнів, тип харчування личинок – планктотрофний.
