Чисельність і просторовий розподіл бактеріопланктону досліджувались влітку 2001 р. у північній та центральній частині Перської затоки. Виявлено просторову неоднорідність у розподілі  бактеріопланктону дослідженої акваторії, тоді як вертикальний розподіл бактерій був рівномірним внаслідок відсутності стратифікації водної товщі.
