Abundance of V. zaikai reduced in 2007 three times, and the depth of maximal number was registered at 160 m, i.e. shifted to greater depth. In age-structure of V. zaikai early stages were dominating. |

У Чорному морі є донне угруповання мейобентосу, яке мешкає на глибинах, де аеробна товща води переходе у анаеробну, яка містить сірководень. У досить вузькій смузі цього переходного біотопу переважають поліхети Protodrilus sp. та Vigtorniella zaikai. Порівняння даних за 1994 та 2007 рр. показало, що у Protodrilus sp. зменшився діапазон глибин (у 2007 р. вид зустрічався з 130 до 170 м), а максимум чисельности знизився у 30 разів. У V. zaikai максимальна кількість впала втричі, а глибина максимуму понизилась на 20 м (стала рівна 160 м). У віковій структурі різко переважають ювенільні стадії.
