In 2004 the level of consumption of hydrobionts attained 155.8 million tonnes, from which the share of aquiculture is 38.1 %. |

Представлені результати аналізу статистичних даних про об'єми світового вилову і штучного відтворення водних живих ресурсів у 20 - на початку 21 століть. Особлива увага приділяється останнім 10 -15 рокам. Підкреслюється, що щорічний приріст об'ємів виробництва гідробіонтів з середини 90-х років по теперішній час відбувається виключно за рахунок аквакультури. У 2004 р. рівень споживання водних організмів тваринного і рослинного походження досяг 155.8 млн. т, із яких 38.1% припадає на частку аквакультури.
