Zusammenfassung:Seasonal variations of phytoplankton growth rate and its dependence upon nutrient concentrations in ambience are explored. It is shown that in coastal surface waters of the Black Sea near Sevastopol the growth rate of phytoplankton is restricted by the nitrogen during the most part of the year. At cool period (November – April) phytoplankton growth rate was defined in concentration of nitrates in accordance with the Michaelis-Menten equation. At warm time (May - October) the growth rate of algae is bound with the hyperbolic dependency with ammonium contents. The degree of nutrient limitation of phytoplankton growth rate constituted to 37 % in average for cold period and increased to 62 % for the warm.
