| description | Estimation of current state of Black Sea sprat population in water areas of the Ukraine is based on the analysis of literary data and results of our fishery and biological investigations. Prospect of its further exploitation is considered. For the last few years (2000 - 2002 in different areas) the degradation features of sprat population state have been registered. These are an increase of the recruitment (yearlings) share and decrease of the mean size of fishes in the trawl catches, as well as the reduction of total landings and catch per effort at fishery intensification. Listed parameters testify to overfishing. Thus, it is necessary to reconsider the traditional point of view concerning underfishing of sprat stock in waters of Ukraine and appeals to further escalating of its fishery. Urgent steps should be undertaken to restrict sprat fisheries at least for 2 - 3 years and to change existing rules of fishery. Simultaneously, the population researches are important to be developed for the definition of separate unit stocks as independent objects of exploitation and management. |

На підставі аналізу літературних джерел і результатів власних промислово-біологічних досліджень подано оцінку сучасного стану популяції чорноморського шпроту у водах України та найближчих перспектив її експлуатації. Виявлено, що за останні роки (після 2000 – 2002 рр.) в різних районах в стані популяції явно простежуються риси її деградації, яка характеризується збільшенням в уловах частки поповнення (цьогорічок і річників), зменшенням середнього промислового розміру та уловів на зусилля в умовах зростаючої інтенсифікації промислу. Всі перераховані показники виразно свідчать про класичні ознаки перелову. В умовах даної ситуації необхідно переглянути традиційну точку зору відносно неповного використовування запасу чорноморського шпроту у водах України та заклики до дальшого нарощування промислу. Необхідно терміново, не відкладаючи на майбутнє (його вже нема), приймати заходи до суттєвого обмеження промислу не менш, як на 2 - 3 роки, а також до зміни існуючих правил риболовства. Одночасно необхідно поширити розвиток популяційних досліджень з метою виділення елементарних одиниць запасу як самостійних об’єктів експлуатації та управління.
