Three of them were dominant in the whole sampled layer: Metaconchoecia isoheira (44 and 31 % accordingly in the layers 0 – 500 and deeper than 500 m), Alacia belgicae (28 and 23 %) and Alacia hettacra (24 and 21 %); the fourth one – Boroecia antipoda (21 %) – deeper than 500 m. The rest of species (Metaconchoecia skogsbergi, Proceroecia brachiaskos, Discoconchoecia aff. elegans and Conchoecissa symmetrica) were found not numerous in the deepest sampled layers (200 – 500, 500 – 1000 м). Most abundance and biomass of halocyprids (> 1000 ind./1000 m3 and up to 500 - 780 мг/1000 м3) was recorded in the 200 - 500 and deeper than 500 m layers. In the 0 – 100 m surface layer they were not numerous, the higher densities of ostracods was marked along the frontal zone formed due to mixture of waters of the Bellingshausen and Weddell seas.

Аналізується кількісний розподіл пелагічних остракод (Halocyprididae) у західній частині протоки Брансфілда на основі зоопланктонних матеріалів 7-ої Української антарктичної експедиції, зібраних у березні 2002 року. Максимальна глибина лову варіювала від 200 до 1000 м. Виявлено вісім видів галоціприд. Три з них домінували у всьому шарі, що досліджувався: Metaconchoecia isoheira (44 і 31 % у шарах 0 - 500 і глибше 500 м, відповідно), Alacia belgicae (28 і 23 %) і Alacia hettacra (24 і 21 %); четвертий – Boroecia antipoda (21 %) – глибше 500 м. Інші види (Metaconchoecia skogsbergi, Proceroecia brachiaskos, Discoconchoecia aff. elegans і Conchoecissa symmetrica) зустрілися в невеликій кількості в нижніх шарах облову (200 – 500, 500 – 1000 м). Найбільші чисельність і біомаса галоціприд (> 1000 экз./1000 м3 і до 500 – 780 мг/1000 м3) спостерігалися в шарах 200 – 500 і глибше 500 м. У верхньому 100-метровому шарі вони були нечисленні, підвищені величини чисельності відзначені уздовж фронтальної зони, що формується при взаємодії вод морів Беллінсгаузена й Уедделла.
