The important role of professor A. O. Kovalevsky in the organization of these expeditions, as well as in the selection of researcher – Nicholas Alexandrovich Krichagin, the Kiev University Zoological Cabinet conservator, are noted. During the first expedition the reconnaissance of the Eastern coast of the Kerch Strait to the Sukhum-Kale was carried out by Krichagin; in the second expedition of the efforts of the researcher were focused on the study of the Novorossiysk Bay - the most promising target finded. The basic scientific results of Krichagin’s expeditions – new species of crustaceans and conclusions about the richness and originality of the fauna of the Black sea – are described. The possible causes of the termination of the Black sea expeditions of the Kiev society of naturalists after 1874, and caring N. A. Krichagin from Kiev University are listed. Описано передiсторiю та результати експедицій до східного берега Чорного моря, які були організовані Київською спілкою природознавців у 1872 та 1874 рр. з метою вивчення фауни морських безхребетних. Відзначена важлива роль професора О. О. Ковалевського в організації цих експедицій та у виборі їх виконавця - консерватора зоологічного кабінету Київського університету Миколи Кричагiна. Підчас першої експедиції М. О. Кричагiн провів рекогносцирування східного берега вiд Керченської протоки до Сухум-Кале. У другій експедиції зусилля зоолога були зосереджені на вивченні Новоросійської бухти, яка виявилася найбільш перспективним об’єктом. Наведені основні наукові підсумки експедицій М.О. Кричагiна: виявлені їм нові види ракоподібних й зроблено висновки про багатство та своєрідність фауни Чорного моря. Названі можливі підстави припинення чорноморських експедицій Київської спілки природознавців після 1874 р., а також залишення М. О. Кричагiним Київського університету.
