Vernadsky Biology and ecology became the essential parts of the contemporarily natural science in the beginning of XXI century. The main historical events in world-wide science are the shift of central scientific focuses: 1) from organisms, their species and diversity to ecosystems and their own diversity; 2) from trophic relations in biotic communities to biogeochemical relations in ecosystems of different size and type and in whole biosphere; 3) Among the main factors defined biological productivity, became not so intenal factors, but the boundary conditions on the surround territories; 4) The boundary conditions on territories defined firstly general concentration and activity of the main external nutrients and antropogenic chemicals; 5) The interdisciplinary topics and methodology became the most preferable. Стаття являє собою дискусійний науковий матеріал з кількох вузлових, на думку авторів, тем сучасного розвитку природознавчих знань в області біоекологічного природознавства на початку ХХI століття. Однією з найважливіших рис науки на кордоні біології та екології автори вважають історичне зміщення центру наукових досліджень: 1) від організмів і різноманітності їх видів до екосистем і їх різноманітності, не менше важливого, ніж видове; 2) від трофічних зв'язків у біотичних спільнотах до біогеохімічних і біогеофізичних зв'язків в екосистемах, в регіонах і в біосфері Землі в цілому; 3) У групі умов, що визначають загальний екологічний стан і біологічну продуктивність морів вирішальними стають не стільки внутрішньоводоємні фактори, скільки граничні умови на водозбірних територіях; 4) Граничні хімічні умови для поверхневих водойм визначаються в першу чергу загальною щільністю людського населення та типом господарської чи іншої діяльності на водозбірних територіях; 5) У будь-якому випадку пріоритет віддаватиметься міждисциплінарним, водно-територіальним та соціально значущим об'єктам і темам, що потребують використання загальнонаукової методології (до гідро-біологічних установ це важлива вимога раніше не висувалася).
