Visnyk of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine| Резюме: | The 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, often called the Nobel Prize in Economics, was awarded to American scientist Claudia Goldin from Harvard University “for having advanced our understanding of women’s labour market outcomes”. Based on data collected in US archives spanning more than 200 years, she demonstrated how and why gender differences in earnings and employment rates have changed over time. As stated in the press release of the Nobel Committee, “understanding women’s role in the labour is important for society. Thanks to Claudia Goldin’s groundbreaking research, we now know much more about the underlying factors and which barriers may need to be addressed in the future.” |
