Visnyk of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine| Zusammenfassung: | The article discusses the scientific achievements of Dmytro Chyzhevsky, in particular, those aspects of his work that testify to his attention to the history of Ukrainian literature. The concept of «cultural-historical epochs», used by scientist to explain the change in cultural styles, is analyzed. Special attention is paid to Chyzhevsky’s «History of Ukrainian Literature», its main ideas and problems, as well as the reception of this fundamental work by the then Ukrainian critics (in particular, the reviews and opinions of Yuri Sherekh, Olexander Biletsky, Ihor Kostetsky, Sviatoslav Hordynsky and others are considered). A review of Chyzhevsky’s works devoted to the literary heritage of the Ukrainian baroque, is carried out, his understanding of the baroque as a style and epoch, as well as his view of the phenomenon of «baroque human» is determined. Chyzhevsky’s contribution to the study of the artistic and philosophical heritage of Hryhoriy Skovoroda as the last representative of the baroque tradition, his ideas about the connection of the Ukrainian thinker with medieval theologians, Slavic and German mystics is summed up. |
