Summary:The Radiation Safety Standards of Ukraine (NRBU-97) regulate the procedure for workers operating with ionizing radiation sources, by qualifying the occupational exposure doses. Such standards contradict the existing requirements for training of medical physicists. Future specialists should be practically trained (including practice within clinic establishments) to provide medical service at a high-quality international level. The proposed training with a computer-aided and remote-controlled training-research X-ray unit for specialists eliminates the regulatory inconsistency, satisfies the basic safety standards and expands the skills of medical physicists in receiving and processing X-ray images under the condition of preventing radiation risks to health.
