Nuclear and Radiation SafetyРезюме: | Currently, there is a significant number of various designs for small modular reactors in the world. In general, existing concepts of small modular reactors allow transferring from conventional large-scale construction to factory production, reducing costs and advancing in technologies that will provide flexible solution depending on the consumer needs.
However, regardless of small modular reactor design, all of them are united by the need for siting for its future location.
The article considers the peculiarities of existing approaches in the United States of America (USA) to siting for small modular reactors. At the same time, an overview, analysis and generalization for the provisions of the regulatory documents of the USA are presented.
In Ukraine, there is a legislative and regulatory framework in which the requirements for siting for the construction of a “classic” NPP are established. Taking into account the above, the article provides conclusions regarding the results of comparing the requirements of Ukrainian regulatory documents on siting for nuclear power plants with the existing approaches of the United States. |
