Резюме:The paper presents analysis of challenges encountered during maintenance of the reactor coolant pump (RCP) main connector and explains the necessity of RCP service modernization. The multistage hydraulic wrench was produced and patented to solve certain issues during the operation. Automatic axis centering with the pump connector is the main operation principle the device is based on. Body studs are gripped and pulled, device automatically tightens the studs set moment then removing the tensile force. The article gives a detailed description and principles of device operation. The multistage hydraulic wrench prolonged overhaul period of the sealing surfaces, reduced radiation dose to personnel, improved the quality of the sealing without disturbing the technology, reduced the time of maintenance. Application of automatic control system increases the safety level and prevents creation of an emergency related to the damage of the main connector pins by diagnosing the state of the fasteners. RCP maintenance is improved so as to increase the economic efficiency of the whole plant.
