Description
Summary:The hazards associated with treatment spent radiation sources in the centralized storage facility under construction in the Chernobyl exclusion zone are analyzed. Models are proposed to calculate possible situations of contamination with radionuclides in centralized storage rooms. The required ventilation rate is calculated for areas where sources containing 60Co, 90Sr, 137Cs, 226Ra, 238Pu, 239Pu and 241Am radionuclides are supposed to be treated. Based on zoning of the storage facility and calculations, recommended air volumes of general dilution ventilation are provided.
