Nuclear and Radiation SafetyРезюме: | This paper discusses scenarios of the local destruction of reinforced concrete containers as a protective (safety) barrier by the example of studying the kinetics of the “container + radwaste” system. The mechanisms of gradual conversion of the potential destruction centers in the container to the secondary centers of destruction through physicochemical interaction of the container structural material with the filling environments and then conversion of secondary centers to the real destruction centers due to "ageing" of the container and influence of γ–quanta from radioactive materials are considered on the macro-level within these scenarios. The design features of containers and potential of both stochastic and non-stochastic destructive processes were taken into account in the scenarios. The degradation of the "container + radwaste" system during its operation has been mathematically modeled and the obtained solutions have been analyzed for two boundary estimates: when the rate of conversion of the potential destruction centers to the secondary centers of destruction is much lower than the rate of the generation of real destruction centers and, accordingly, when the first rate significantly exceeds the second rate. |
