To solve the issue of future energy development, nuclear energy should be considered not only in terms of economics but also ecological and social factors. The article shows that sustainable development of society is possible not through the use of the environment but through agreement of economical activity and human behavior in the global closed life-supporting environment. Based on analysis of interaction between the nuclear industry and the public, it is proposed that the concept of sustainable development is adapted to nuclear energy. Для вирішення проблеми майбутнього розвитку електроенергетики потрібно розглядати ядерну енергетику не тільки з економічної точки зору, але й з урахуванням екологічних і соціальних факторів. У статті показано, що сталий розвиток су спільства можливий не за рахунок експлуатації довкілля, а через узгодження економічної діяльності й поводження людей в умовах глобального замкнутого життєзабезпечуючого середовища. На основі аналізу взаємодії ядерної галузі з громадськістю пропонується адаптувати основні постулати концепції сталого розвитку до ядерної енергетики.
