Резюме:The paper is devoted to one of the topical issues of Ukraine's transition to new radiation safety standards, whose draft is being currently actively discussed by experts. The paper considers the issues of personnel categorization, presents brief description for the reflection of these aspects in the current State Radiation Safety Standards of Ukraine (NRBU-97) and changes proposed for the introduction by a new draft document. The paper also provides a brief description of the current State Radiation Safety Standards of Ukraine (NRBU-97), General Safety Requirements Part 3 (GSR Part 3) and clarifying explanations of such concepts as the exposure situation and dose limit. The main topic of the paper addresses the issues associated with changes in the personnel categorization principles and introduction of new criteria to establish personnel category. The authors present their view of this issue in the paper linking its solution with the dose limit concept as an optimization tool. The paper, according to the authors, should be of interest to a wide range of both experts on radiation protection, who directly work in various areas of using radiation sources, and experts directly involved in rule-making in the area of safety regulation for radiation source management.
