Резюме:This article provides general information on the safety topics and results of Phase 2 of the Small Modular Reactors Regulators’ Forum. It provides an overview of the results obtained by the Forum working groups to establish common positions on the issues that have already arisen or are likely to arise during the expected licensing of the small modular reactor design in a number of countries. In particular, the following topics have been addressed by the working groups: licensing of small modular reactors; their design and safety analysis; manufacturing, commissioning and operation of small modular reactors. At this Phase of the Forum, the main effort was focused on safety aspects such as the organization of regulatory control throughout the life cycle of small modular reactors and key regulatory interventions, specifics of licensing of the first of the same type reactors considering a limited experience feedback, reduction of uncertainties associated with a lack of experience, establishing a system for experience accumulation and use, consideration of human factor, passive systems, specifics of justification of their reliable functional performance and applicability of the single failure principle, use of common structures and systems at multi-module units, as well as at multi-unit NPPs, consideration of external hazards that can affect multiple facilities at the multi-unit sites, consideration of the design extension conditions (including severe accidents) in the safety assessment and design measures to overcome them, organization and conduct of co-activities and combined activities at a multi-unit small modular reactors' site. The article includes proposals on the further use of the Forum results in planning and licensing of small modular reactors in Ukraine.
