Summary:The petiole anatomy of four evergreen ferns of Dryopteridaceae Ching family (Polystichum acrostichoides (Mich.) Schott, P. munitum (Kaulf.) C. Presl, Cyrtomium fortunei J. Smith., Dryopteris varia (L.) O. Kunze) has been studied. The form of petiole transection in D. varia is channeled; in other species it is round. The hypodermal sclerenhyma consists of 7–14 layers of cells, and is about 250 μ thick.
