Наведено дані про походження, розповсюдження в природній флорі і культурі, інтродукцію та селекцію високопродуктивних кормових рослин родини мальвових. Визначено їх місце в культурі та перспективні напрямки селекційної роботи. Одно- і багаторічні інтродуценти родини мальвових класифіковані за життєво важливими показниками – життєвими формами, тривалістю життєвого циклу, екологічною амплітудою, кліматичним і едафічним факторами.
