Починаючи з 1987 р. вивчались особливості цвітіння і плодоношення 2 видів та 2 декоративних форм бука, інтродукованих у дендропарку “Софіївка” НАН України. Встановлено, що види та форми бука в умовах інтродукції мають періодичність плодоношення, як і в природнім ареалі, через 2–6 років. Виповненим насінням (1–2 %) плодоносили тільки дерева бука лісового, які зростають групою в Англійському парку та на Звіринці. Декоративні форми бука лісового ‘Atropunicea’ та ‘Rotundifolia’ цвіли, але плодоносили невиповненим насінням. M.M.
