The M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden (NBG) was founded in 1935. In 1967 it achieved the status of scientific-research institute. At present, there are eight departments and two laboratories in the garden with more than a 170 research staff of which 14 are doctors and two corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and other states. The area of the Garden is 129.86 ha and it has a unique collection consisting of about 11,970 taxa belonging to 220 families.
The NBG is a leading biological institution in Ukraine. Scientists of the Garden carry out research work on plant introduction, conservation of endemic, relict and en dangered plants, selection and genetics of ornamental, fruit, vegetable and forage plants, biotechnology of tropical and subtropical plants, medical botany, chemical interaction of plants, dendrology and park-building.
The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the NBG including International scientific conference “Plant introduction, conservation and biodiversity enrichment in botanic gardens and arboreta”, which was attended by over 120 representatives from 22 scientific institutions of Ukraine and other states. Many employees NBG were presented with awards, diplomas and gratitude Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. On be half of Governor Vydubytsky Monastery Father Nicholas awarded the employee, Major Missile Forces Anatoly K. Kushvyda, the medal “For the sacrifice”. The new collections and exposition “Garden of Tibetan nature and culture”, “Garden of scents”, “Garden Anna Yaroslavna” (“French garden”), “Garden of stones” are presented. Exhibitions of books and publications of staff of NBG, tropical fruit and plants, art works, held tastings and tours were carried out. |

Гришка (НБС) засновано в 1935 р. У 1967 р. він отримав статус науково-дослідного інституту. До його складу входять вісім наукових відділів та дві лабораторії. В НБС працюють понад 170 наукових співробітників, з них 14 докторів наук та 2 члени-кореспонденти НАН України. Площа Ботанічного саду, на якій розміщені унікальні колекції, до складу яких входять понад 11 970 таксонів із 220 родин, становить 129,86 га. НБС є провідною біологічною установою в Україні. Вчені Ботанічного саду проводять наукові дослідження за напрямами інтродукція рослин, збереження ендемічних, реліктових і зникаючих рослин, селекція декоративних, плодових, овочевих та кормових рослин, біотехнологія тропічних і субтропічних рослин, медична ботаніка, хімічна взаємодія рослин, дендрологія та ландшафтне будівництво. Під час святкування 80-річчя заснування НБС відбулася Міжнародна наукова конференція на тему “Інтродукція рослин, збереження та збагачення біорізноманіття в ботанічних садах та дендропарках”, в якій взяли участь понад 120 представників із 22 наукових установ України та інших країн. Багатьом співробітникам НБС були вручені нагороди, почесні грамоти і подяки Президії НАН України. Від імені Намісника Видубицького чоловічого монастиря Отець Миколай нагородив співробітника Саду, майора ракетних військ Анатолія Костянтиновича Кушвида медаллю “За жертовність”. Під час проведення конференції відбулася презентація нових колекційно-експозиційних ділянок “Сад тибетської природи і культури”, “Сад ароматів”, “Сад Анни Ярославни” (“Французький город”), “Сад каменів”. Працювали виставки книг та публікацій співробітників Саду, тропічних і плодових рослин, художніх робіт. Проведено дегустації та екскурсії. M.M.
