For clarification of processes of adaptation in new conditions of growth are investigated the features of seeds germination and seedlings morphology of 5 species of the genus Pittosporum Banks ex Sol.: P. tobira (Thunb.) W.T. Aiton., P. heterophyllum Franch., P. undulatum Vent., P. crassifolium Banks et Sol. ex A. Cunn., P. illicioides Makino. It is revealed that the elevated type of germination is inherent in all studied species of a genus. The first sprouts appear over a soil surface (depending on specie) at the 15–77th day after germination. The shortest this period is noted at P. undulatum, the longest – in P. crassifolium. It is revealed that duration of the pregenerative period in P. tobira, P. illicioidess, P. undulatum, P. heterophyllum is 2–3 years, in P. crassifolium – 4–6 years. Для з’ясування процесів адаптації в нових умовах зростання досліджено особливості проростання насіння та морфології сіянців 5 видів роду Pittosporum Banks ex Sol.: P. tobira (Thunb.) W.T. Aiton., P. heterophyllum Franch., P. undulatum Vent., P. crassifolium Banks et Sol. ex A. Cunn., P. illicioides Makino. Встановлено морфологічні особливості рослин роду на початкових етапах онтогенетичного розвитку, визначено терміни настання і тривалість вікових станів. Для всіх досліджених видів характерний надземний тип проростання. Перші проростки з’являються на поверхні ґрунту на 15–77-й день після посіву. Найкоротший цей період – у P. undulatum, найтриваліший – у P. crassifolium. Тривалість прегенеративного періоду у видів P. tobira, P. illicioides, P. undulatum, P. heterophyllum – 2–3 роки, у P. crassifolium – 4–6 років. M.M.
