(Sabina Spach subgenus). Рослини роду Juniperus L. є чутливішими до посухи в період активного росту пагонів. Підтверджено думку про нижчу посухостійкість видів підроду Juniperus (серед них в умовах Лісостепу України найменш стійким є J. rigida Siebold et Zucc.) та вищу – більшості представників підроду Sabina Spach (найстійкіший – J. scopulorum Sarg.).
