The paper is devoted to the 150-th anniversary of birth of great Ukrainian botanist V.I. Lypskiy. Scientific achievement of Lypskiy in floristic, systematization of plants, physical geography, history of sciences are elucidated. The value of the V.I. Lypskiy works for modern science are shown.
