It is determined that the fruits of A. commutatum are heterokarpous and seeds are heterospermous and polyembryonous. The special feature of A. commutatum seed germination is emergence of 3–6 leaves (cataphyll) before additional root growth. Deficiency of embryonic root seedlings of A. commutatum would be considered as extreme ephemeral feature in monocotyledonous. Наведено результати вивчення умов природного місцезростання Aglaonema commutatum Schott (Araceae Juss.). Встановлено, що плодам A. commutatum притаманна гетерокарпія, а насінню – гетероспермія та поліембріонія. Особливістю проростання насіння A. commutatum є поява спочатку 3–6 листків (катафілів), а потім наростання додаткових коренів. Відсутність зародкового корінця у сіянців A. сommutatum можна розглядати як крайній прояв його ефемерності в однодольних. M.M.
