Розглянуто механізм акліматизації рослин з точки зору сучасних досягнень молекулярної генетики. Генетичною основою натуралізації є історично сформована норма реакції, в межах якої формуються адаптаційні ознаки і властивості. При акліматизації зміни адаптаційних ознак і властивостей пов'язані зі зміною норм реакцій організмів під впливом навколишнього середовища, тобто акліматизація – це своєрідний вид селекції: створення з не пристосованих до даних кліматичних умов рослин, пристосованих настільки, що вони стають невід'ємною складовою місцевої флори.
