Результати аналізу видового поліморфізму, екологічних адаптацій та ендемізму свідчать про генетичні зв'язки видів секції Caninae Сrер. із шипшинами широколистяних лісів Західної Європи і видів секції Gallicanae DC. – з наскельними низькогірними шипшинами Східного Середземномор'я.
