Proceedings of the Institute of Electrodynamics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine| Резюме: | Constant growth of distributed generation (DG) in power systems has not only positive changes. Incorrect placement of DG can worsen steady-state parameters of a power grid, for example, voltage profile. Method for optimal DG placement had been developed previously [1, 4, 5, 10, 11]. The object of this paper was to critically examine the proposed method performance on different power grids. Examination of the method has been carried out on the IEEE 9-, 14-, 39- and 57-bus test systems. The results of simulation tests show that this method has limited usage. Performance of the method greatly depends on power grid. In particular, method extremely fast finds optimal DG placement in 14-bus test system; however, optimal DG placement in 57-bus test system requires to perform the amount of calculations, which is comparable to the amount of possible solutions. Besides, simulation data analysis shows that there is some optimal penetration of DG in the power grid, which rises with the number of DG sources in the power grid, but does not depend on the power grid size and is unknown without previous examination.
