Description
Summary:The information about complex scientific research of introduced aromatic plants given byL. D. Yurchak (1937–2010) – a scientist who made a significant contribution to the development ofallelopathy science is provided. The well-grounded ecological approach to solving urgent problems ofagriculture, which the researcher studied: the formation of effective crop rotations, the selection oftolerant crops in joint crops, the reduction of the effect of soil fatigue, the management of the structureand functions of soil microbiocenosis, etc., were considered in detail. L. D. Yurchak popularized scientificagroecological foundations as a basis for alternative farming – agricultural allelopathy. The scientistfirst raised the question of studying the aromatic plants in the system of their relationships with otherorganisms; revealed the causes of soil fatigue under aromatic plants and suggested ways to overcome it.
