To determine the effect on plants and the efficiency of foliar feeding of corn hybrids of different maturity groups (FAO 250, 320, 340) with organo-mineral and mycorrhiza-forming preparations. Methods. Field (temporary field experiment at Pole Znan LLC), spectrophotometric (chlorophyll a and b content), morphometric (leaf surface area), gravimetric (yield measurement), and statistical (analysis of experimental data). Three corn hybrids — Megan (FAO 250), ES Orilskai (FAO 320), and DMS Amigo (FAO 340) — were grown with two applications of organicmineral (Eurostim Amino, BioGumat, Ceovit AntiStress Multi) and mycorrhiza-forming (Mycofriend, r., Mycovit, RK) preparations. Results. Treatment of plants with these preparations increased the leaf surface area by an average of 13.5 % when using organo-mineral preparations and by 17.3 % when using mycorrhiza-forming preparations. For the Megan hybrid, the increase in leaf surface area was 6.1–19.8 %; for the EU Orilskai hybrid, 5.6–22.5 %; and for the DMS Amigo hybrid, 7.7–19.9 %, with the leaf area index increasing by 0.2–0.8 units. Foliar feeding increased the total chlorophyll content (a + b) in the leaves by 4.1–13.1 % compared to the control. A strong correlation was found between the leaf surface area index and chlorophyll content (r 0.88–0.95; R2 0.78–0.90). The highest yield was obtained with the use of Eurostim Amino and Ceovit AntiStress Multi: for the Megan hybrid — 9.28 t/ha, EU Orilskai — 9.28 t/ha, and DMS Amigo — 10.05 t/ha, which exceeded the control by 6.1–13.7 %. Conclusions. Foliar feeding of corn with organicmineral and mycorrhiza-forming preparations is an effective agricultural practice that promotes the formation of a larger leaf surface area, increases their functional activity due to higher chlorophyll content, enhances resistance to drought conditions, and, as a result, increases grain yield. |
