Summary:We propose a new method for the prediction of erosive wear of a heat-transfer surface as particle-laden gas medium flows about it. To determine the characteristics of particles at the instant of their collision with the surface, we have developed a model of flow with regard for the Magnus, Saffman, and thermophoresis forces. For conditions of flow about an economizer pipe, we have carried out computations of the wear intensity induced by ash particles.
