Summary:Introduction of standards for power equipment efficiency is one of the most effective directions of energy saving in heat- and-power engineering, where the majority of the equipment is in need of replacement. Consummation of new standards makes sense, if there are real conditions. Modernization of heat-generating equipment requires considerable resources and cannot be carried out simultaneously throughout the industry. Therefore it is necessary to work out scenarios for the most economically advantageous realization of new equipment with determination of the sequence of re-equipment by capacity and in time provided limited investment. A new procedure is developed and generalized approach is proposed for the economic estimation of the optimal direction and sequence of introduction of progressive standards for energy efficiency in heat supply taking into account economic, environmental and social aspects on the example of the modernization of natural gas fired hot-water boilers
