Резюме:The steady development of state’s economy is impossible without the efficient work of national gas-distribution networks, which supply natural gas to industrial and municipal consumers, state’s institutions, and the household sector.The article describes the current technical state of Ukraine’s natural-gas distribution networks and analyzes the possible measures aimed at the reduction of methane leakages from it. The problem of assessment of the GHG leakage from distribution networks is considered as well.Some methodical approaches to the estimation of the volume of methane leakages from the main elements of Ukraine’s natural-gas distribution networks are described, and the estimation is made. The analysis of statistical data for two natural-gas distributing companies is presented.It is established that, for a preliminary conservative estimation of methane leakages at the formation of the baseline of joint introduction projects for gas distribution networks with middle and low pressures, in which such projects provide the maximal environmental and economic effect, the coefficient of leakage should be taken to be at least 5% of the distributed volume, though the value of 6 – 8% is more realistic.
