System Research in Energy| Zusammenfassung: | Ukraine's chemical complex consumes an average annual of 6 to 8.5 bcm of natural gas (over 10% of national demand), mostly for the production of mineral fertilisers, where 75% of gas is used as a raw material. The domestic chemical industry produces predominantly urea (about 60%) and ammonium nitrate (about 30%). Ammonium nitrate is the most popular product on the internal fertilizer market, and most of the urea output (up to 97% in 2012) is exported. Ammonia is the main raw material for the production of urea and ammonium nitrate.Fertilisers and inorganic chemistry products each make up almost 35% in exports of chemical products, the rest products 30 %. As for imports, pharmaceutical products account for more than one third of chemical products imported in recent years.About 60% of gas consumption in the industry falls on ammonia, urea and ammonium nitrate, which are exported. A total of 4.1 bcm of natural gas was used to make these products in 2012. In general, exported goods take up about 50% of energy resources used for the production of ammonia, urea and ammonium nitrate in Ukraine. Energy consumption in the industry is acted upon by the export-oriented production of nitrogen fertilisers and the correlation between the price of natural gas for the production of fertilisers and global fertiliser prices. |
