In connection with the likely introduction of international requirements for mercury emissions in the near future, it is indicated the need to take into account the cost of means to reduce mercury emissions during the selection of fuel burning technologies during the modernization of existing power units of TPPs of Ukraine and making decisions about the construction of new ones. Розглянуто шляхи сприяння вирішенню проблеми зниження викидів небезпечних речовин, зокрема ртуті, під час стаціонарного спалювання палива в різних країнах світу на законодавчому рівні. У зв’язку з імовірним введенням міжнародних вимог до викидів ртуті у найближчій перспективі вказано на необхідність урахування вартості засобів для зниження викидів ртуті під час вибору технологій спалювання палива та марок палива під час модернізації існуючих енергоблоків ТЕС України та прийняття рішення про будівництво нових.
