Description
Summary:Film-type cooling towers for circulation water are widely used in power engineering and industry. The search for new shapes of sprinkler surfaces, which can enhance the efficiency of the operation of cooling towers, is an important scientific and technical problem. One of the ways of increasing the cooling capacity of these apparatus is the use of sprinklers in the form of profiled surfaces with spherical dimples, which provide a high efficiency of heat transfer from water to air.The aim of the present work is to study experimentally the influence of the geometric sizes of sprinklers on the efficiency of cooling, to generalize the data obtained for heat transfer from water to air, to find the conditions under which the apparatus possess a high cooling capacity, and also to propose profiled surfaces for industrial cooling towers with assigned productivities. We have generalized the experimental data in the form of dimensionless heat transfer coefficient (Nusselt number). We describe a procedure for calculating the degree of water cooling. We also propose the designs of using profiled surfaces in film-type cooling towers.
