Резюме:Electrostatic precipitators are widely applied for the cleaning of smoke gases of pulverized-coal fired boilers of thermal power plants from fly ash and refer to the most efficient dust removal apparatus. In the paper, we propose an improvement of the known analytical method of calculation of electric field components in the plate precipitator channel. The improvement lies in the fact that the right-hand sides of known theoretical relations for the computation of longitudinal and transverse components of electric field vector are multiplied by a dimensionless group Z that can be calculated as Z = 1,829K-0,668L0,297M-0,258, where К = Е0D/U; L = h/d; M = d/D; Е0 is the critical electric field strength; d is the distance between corona-forming electrodes; D is their diameter; h is the distance between the planes of corona-forming and settling electrodes, and U is the voltage on the electrodes. In such a way, we succeed in achieving good agreement between the theoretical and practical relations for the electric field in a plate electrostatic precipitator. An example of the use of the proposed method in calculations of the characteristics of motion of disperse particles in the electrostatic precipitator channel is given. It is shown that the proposed improvement enables one to explain the discrepancy between the particle drift velocities calculated by the traditional technique.
