Description
Summary:An operator method using the translation symmetry of a semi-infinite periodic structure is generalized of the scatterers being metal strips. The rigorously formulated problem of electromagnetic wave diffraction by semi-infinite strip gratings is reduced to the solution of the nonlinear equation with respect to the sought reflection operator of a semi-infinite grating. The approximate analytical solution is found for the plane grating with the assumption that its strips are narrow and sparsely spaced. The asymptotic representation for the field scattered by a plane semi-infinite grating is obtained. It can be used as the initial approximation for an iteration procedure of the numerical solution.
