Обмірковуються шляхи розвитку атомної енергетики України та можливості підвищення її безпеки. Показано, що основними завданнями на найближчі роки є організація науково-технічного супроводу безпечної експлуатації Існуючих енергоблоків та розробка методів продовження терміну їх служби. Розглядаються також перспективні ядерно-енергетичні технології, що вигідно відрізняються від технологій, які використовуються зараз, відсутністю накопичення ізотопів з великим періодом піврозпаду.
