Модель прогнозування розвитку вугільної промисловості України в умовах міжнародної конкуренції враховує ринкові умови функціонування галузі шляхом додавання до переліку виробників вугільної продукції джерел постачання імпортованого палива і запровадження таким чином конкурентних засад функціонування власних виробників. Конкурентоспроможність вітчизняних вуглевидобувних підприємств досягається в моделі за рахунок зменшення собівартості видобутку при здійсненні капіталовкладень у їх основні фонди й належної оцінки технологічної та економічної ефективності цих капіталовкладень.
