Unsatisfactory state of study of stratotype and key sections of local stratigraphic units of the southern Ukraine Paleogene is stated. Of the 71 stratigraphic units for 37 only, typical sections are described. У статті наведено огляд стратотипових розрізів для 41 світи, 19 товщ, п’яти верств з географічною назвою, шести верств з фауною стратиграфічної схеми палеогенових відкладів Північного Причорномор’я і прилеглої частини Українського щита, Приазов’я, Кримського і Керченського півостровів. Констатовано незадовільний стан вивченості стратотипових і опорних розрізів місцевих стратиграфічних підрозділів палеогену південної України. Із 71 стратиграфічного підрозділу лише для 37 описані типові розрізи.
