На підставі детального погоризонтного вивчення геолого-геофізичних і промислових даних в палеозойських відкладах площі виділено два основних поверхи нафтогазоносності – серпухівський і візейський, а також чотири ділянки (блоки). Встановлено тектонічний, літологічний і комбінований типи пасток для вуглеводнів.
