Результати проведеного моніторингу та геолого-статистичного аналізу складу газів показали складність і багатофакторність процесів генерації, міграції та накопичення різних газів у вугільній речовині. Причиною аварії стає раптове надходження метану в гірничі виробки з глибших горизонтів. Показана можливість міграції та накопичення газів з глибин і їх зв'язок з неотектонічними рухами.
