The cause of the accident was sudden inflow of methane into the mine workings from deeper horizons. It was demonstrated the possibility of deep gas migration and accumulation and their relationships with neotectonic movements. Результати проведеного моніторингу та геолого-статистичного аналізу складу газів показали складність і багатофакторність процесів генерації, міграції та накопичення різних газів у вугільній речовині. Причиною аварії стає раптове надходження метану в гірничі виробки з глибших горизонтів. Показана можливість міграції та накопичення газів з глибин і їх зв'язок з неотектонічними рухами.
