На основі детальної петрографічної та геохімічної характеристик аргілітів верхньовендського і нижньокембрійського комплексів південно-західної окраїни Східноєвропейської платформи (Дністровський перикратонний прогин), використовуючи хімічні індекси вивітрювання (CIA), (CIW), індекс ступеня перетворення плагіоклазів (PIA), індекси вивітрювання WR, WI-1, WI-2 та співвідношення K2O/Al2O3, встановлюється їх фаціальна належність, склад джерел зносу, ступінь хімічного вивітрювання, рециклінг з метою реконструкції палеогеографічних і палеогеодинамічних обстановок.
