Присутність вугільно-вуглеводневих формацій у верхніх горизонтах земної кори вказує на існування геологічних епох максимального накопичення твердих каустобіолітів, які характеризуються специфічними режимами тектоносфери і біосфери. Парагенезис тектоно-магматичних подій та вугільно-вуглеводневих формацій визначається збігом часу процесів вуглеутворення з часом тектоно-магматичних фаз, а формування в більш молодих осадових відкладах при наявності пасток або екрануючих горизонтів – вуглеводневих формацій.
