У статті наведено дані про характер розповсюдження нижньопермських відкладів на території Дніпровсько-Донецької западини та особливості будови розрізу. Неоднорідності у будові хемогенної толщі нижньої пермі дають змогу виділити ділянки часткового, або повного літолого-стратиграфічного виклинювання шарів розрізу. Наводяться перспективні ділянки на яких можливе розповсюдження площ з літологічно та стратиграфічно обмеженими пастками для вуглеводнів.
